Reloading Rockbox after Sansa automatic update
« on: January 15, 2009, 11:27:08 PM »
I just plugged my Sansa e270 (which had Rockbox on it working just fine) into my Windows machine and the Sansa software did an automatic update which seemed to go just fine also. The problem is that Rockbox no longer loads on the player. I checked the FAQ's and it said to check item 2.2.4 in the manual for how to reload the Rockbox bootloader but I can't find 2.2.4 or anything else on this subject. Player works fine in OF but I want RB back!  Any help would be much appreciated.

Just install it like you did last time.

I tried that. When I try to install the bootloader in RB Utility it cannot find my Sansa. Same goes for anything under the Quick Start heading.  I uninstalled RB and started over. Same thing. I can install RB from the installation heading as well as the extras (fonts and games) but when I hit "Install the Bootloader" I get a window that asks me if I really want to install the bootloader. I reply in the affirmative. Then a window comes up that says "No Sansas detected".  I then tried installing the bootloader manually via Sansapatcher and I get the same result.

The firmware upgrade probably reset the USB settings for the OF back to either "Auto Detect" or "MTP". You'll have to set it back to "UMS" and try installing the bootloader again.

I have been trying all of this in MSC mode (as sandisk calls UMS).

Yes, I had administrative rights.

MarcGuay - Thanks for the link to the other thread, but I did not find anything there that worked to fix my problem. Bootloader install still does not recognize my Sansa e270 either automatically or manually.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I continued to try to install bootloader periodically throughout the day both automatically and manually with no luck. Then, all of a sudden, while using sansapatcher, my player was recognized and I was able to install bootloader. Now all is bliss. Weird!!!
Thanks you those who tried to help.
