video
« on: January 14, 2009, 06:07:43 AM »
I am a new user of Rockbox, so I have a lot of questions.  Bear with me.

It says in the manual that the plugin is automatically included. So how do I use this?  Just score a video from bit torrent, save it to my desktop, and drag and drop? Is there a video option on the menu?

Thanks :)

Please do not discuss copyright infringement here (if you were).  You need to convert the video first to MPEG 1/2 and the correct dimensions for your player, copy it to your player, then just select it from the file browser.  See www.rockbox.org/wiki/PluginMpegplayer

This is what I originally read. I am not too tech savvy so some of this I don't understand; it took me quite some time to download the program in general!  How do I convert the video to that mpeg?  It should just automatically play once I select it? When you say it is in the file browser, you mean in the same place where my songs are?

Thanks~

There are instructions on that page for how to convert.  I suggest winff.  Once you have converted it, copy it to wherever you want on your player.  Using the "files" option in Rockbox, navigate to where you copied it and select it like you would with music.  It will then start playing.
