how do you fix broken or out-of-date theme
PaulPosition:
Find a way to extract the files from the archives while preserving file paths? I find functions such as 'extract to' or 'extract here' or whatever your (de)compression calls it usually works better than opening the file and dragging everything out of it (which usually does NOT preserve paths).

Can you paste a link to the theme that you are trying to install?

http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WpsSansaE200#BlacknBlue_Glass
that the one
Febs:
When I open that .zip file, the only thing in the folder is a .rockbox folder. There are no other files or folders in the root of the .zip file. Do you see the same thing?
If so, all you need to do is:
1. Open the file using whatever unzip program you prefer.
2. Press the "extract all files" button (or whatever the equivalent button is in your unzip program).
3. Select your player as the location for the extract files.
4. Hit "OK."
5. If your unzip program tells you that there is already a folder named ".rockbox" and asks you if you want to overwrite the contents of the folder or skip the duplicates, tell it to overwrite the files. Your unzip program may use the term "merger" rather than "overwrite." If so, select "merge." (This will not overwrite the .rockbox directory on your player. Rather, the contents of the .rockbox directory on your player and the .rockbox directory in the .zip file will be merged.)
