Sandisk Sansa e270
« on: January 11, 2009, 05:10:16 PM »
I removed the rockbox folder from the root (stupid idea) and know I cant get the computer to recognize it in MSC mode, it just shows two blank generic removable drives instead.  I can use MTP mode fine.  Is there anything I can do to fix it?  Thanx

Its also not recognizing about half of my music

So, right now Rockbox won't boot because of missing firmware files.  You said, "Its also not recognizing about half of my music."   If "it" refers to the SanDisk firmware then I'm not sure what I'm supposed to make of this.  If MSC mode doesn't work then it sounds like something went wrong with the SanDisk firmware.  You could try doing the recovery procedure (which you can find from the SansaFAQ page).

Ok, so I sorta fixed it.  I used recovery mode and loaded in a Sandisk .mi4.  Now it doesn't try to load rockbox in the beginning, but it still wont work on MSC mode.  So now im lost again.  -Thanx

Do you have your operating system set to show hidden files?  Showing two drives is typical of MSC mode on the e200.  (The second drive is the memory card slot).

What isn't?  Windows?  Sansa firmware?

After I put show hidden folders, it didn't do anything.  When you right click on the card and go to properties, it says its 0 bytes.

The sandisk firmware isn't showing about half my songs

Thanx

When you set Windows to show hidden files there were still no files on either of the two drives?  (It helps to provide obsessive details when asking for technical help)

What do you mean by "the card"?  If you're referring to the second disk, it is normal that it shows 0 bytes if no card or an incompatible card (SDHC) is inserted.

Sorry about that, i forgot to add some important details.

I have windows set to show hidden folders, and even with that both removable drives show no files on them(which isn't true, I have 2 gigs of music on the micro sd alone)

Both removable drives that show up (in my computer when I plug in the sansa on MSC mode) show that they are both o bytes

thanx again

I hate to bail on you, but now that Rockbox has been completely removed from your player you'll get better support over at the Sandisk forums.  It sounds like something has gone haywire with their firmware and/or hardware.
