Is there a way to get rockbox to say the .talk files before each song is played?

(1/1)

easonand:
Can rockbox say the .talk file before playing a song?  I want to know what I am listening to without having to look at the screen for each song.

bascule:
Not currently. The following thread also covered a very similar question:

blind_Pete:
Sorry if I have the etiquette wrong here, commenting on an old (dead?) feature request.

Is this still true?  (That there is no sensible way to play talk files between tracks.)

In another thread someone commented that trying to modify the playlist was beyond him.  My ignorant hunch is that the "play track" code is where the action should be, but that is probably beyond me.  Even if I can find it.  :-(

Thank you for your work, I love the audio interface.

Chronon:
Do you need it played every time a track starts?  If you only need it on demand can't you just return to the file browser to have the filename of the current track spoken?

blind_Pete:
I don't need it at all, but it seems like a good idea.

It would probably be quite annoying for a selection of short music files, but more useful for longer files that are similar to each other; like "episode 1", "episode 2", etc.  or "late night live 2011 May 30 .mp3", "late night live 2011 May 31 .mp3", "late night live 2011 June 01 .mp3".

It could be useful when clicking through tracks with the left and right buttons too.  Would that be a different case, or an extension of the above?
