ebay-article sansa e280 v1 or v2?

Stephan_Spitfire:
Hey guys!

I tried ROCKbox on my little sisters mp3-player (e260 v1) and simply love it. And cause my old player broke down and I need to get a new one, it totally has to be ROCKbox-ready. ^^

Cause the new player shouldn't be second hand and I don't like the ipod, I'm thinking of a sansa e200. I found this Sansa e280 on german ebay. To the request, if this is a v1 or v2 modell (with the hind where to find the firmware-version) came this reply:

"sorry that we do not have the answer because the version data is not shown in the packing or the player body."

May you please have one look at the ebay-article and judge, if it might be the v1- or v2-modell.  :) I know you can't tell for sure, but maybe you spot some hints. I know the wheel looks different on the player of my sister.

I can't cope with a boring original firmware no more, after I tasted the possibilities. ^^ Thanks for your help finding my perfect player. :)

PS: I'm pretty good at pixel-art. I already made a cool wallpaper for my sister's player and would like to help the community with some icons etc. To bad I can't code.  :-[

TBOL3:
If I remember correctly, the firmware is on the body of the player (but it has been known to be the wrong version)

Tell them it's on the back, and the bottom right most text of the player.  If it says v2 there, it should be v2 (once again, their have been a few flukes, but this is only really for refurbished players).

Sorry, but that's not correct. The body is not a good indicator of the hardware revision. The only guaranteed indicator is by checking the firmware version itself from the Sansa firmware itself, in System > Info. If the firmware begins with 01.XX.XX, it's a v1 Sansa and is Rockbox compatible. If the firmware is 03.XX.XX, it's a v2 and not compatible with Rockbox.

Stephan_Spitfire: If you're looking to buy a Sansa e200 or c200 on eBay, be sure to ask the seller to tell you what the firmware version on the Sansa is first.

piscator:
Froobi.com has 'Rockbox Ready' Sansas.  I've 'Rockboxed' three e280's I purchased from Froobi and they all worked just fine.  The Sansa a great player for the money.

Good luck

Thanks for your help so far!

Too bad the ebay-seller obviously can't open the package and start the player.

The e280 on Froobi looks awesome cheap. I already asked if they ship to Germany too, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

edit: Damn, they just ship inland.
