Ipod video 30G wont turn off :(

I hold the play button in and the Ipod still wont turn off . Could it be hardware or software? Help. It's eating my battery

Check the "hold" switch.

No I don't have that turned on lol. Everything is set up that it should turn off but it just doesn't. :S No other ideas?

Just to be sure, have you tried the hard reset? Select + Menu for up to 30 seconds

Yea I've done that afew times but I can't just seem to turn it off. It's always on sucking up all my battery.

Do you mean it doesn't turn off at all, or do you mean Rockbox shuts down but then starts up again immediately?

And if it doesn't turn off at all, does a short press of the play/pause button work correctly?  In other words, if you are playing music and in the While Playing Screen, does a short press of the play/pause button pause playback?
