delete my itunes library?

(1/1)

PickupBetty:
Hi -- I am new to Rockbox (just loaded it yesterday!) and I love both the concept and the execution of it.  Thanks to you guys for creating and designing this.

I am not a techie, so my terminology will probably be way off, but I have a question that I am not able to find an answer to (my own limitations, I'm sure):

Now that I've built a Rockbox database from my old itunes library, can I delete the itunes part and still have it in Rockbox?  I guess what I am asking is if the Rockbox directory is a stand-alone body of music now, or is it just a set of pointers and/or tags referring back to my original itunes library.

I do understand that if I load music now onto the ipod using drag and drop, I can manage it from Rockbox.

Thanks for your patience and any illumination you can offer!

The latter.

That said, if you dont' wish to use iTunes anymore, you may still want to delete the music added by iTunes and replace it with music you've copied over so that you can use the file browser instead of only the database.  Though if you're happy with the database theres no reason to do this.

PickupBetty:
Thanks, guys!  I think I can make an informed decision now.
