Repairing a dead H120 with a CF mod?
« on: January 03, 2009, 09:48:39 PM »
I have an old iRiver H120 with no hard drive that I want to graft a CF card onto. Rockbox has been installed on it before, but an old version; the bootloader is version 5. Will I be able to read the CF card with the bootloader's USB mode and install a newer bootloader? If not, is there anything else I can try?

Your best bet is to buy a cheap HDD off ebay.
I purchased a 5GB 1.8" drive for under $10 for just these sorts of purposes.
Good luck.

So there's no chance of repairing it without getting a HDD? One person in the CFModGuide reported success with the v5 bootloader, although he's using an H320.
Thanks for your help.
