Ipod Classic /5.5 gen

So i ordered an ipod 5.5 off of ebay and they sent me the classic.i am very bummed and am now thinking of retuning it cause i do want to use rockbox.

what exactly is the difference between classic and 5.5?  would you return the classic and request the 5.5, would it be worth it?  if i were to sell it over ebay or craigslist, how much should i sell a used 80 gig ipod classic for?

how am i sure this is really the classic, since they do replace the hardrives? is there a tool to help me? is the classic case and the 5.5 only able to hold certian hardrives? im so confused, sorry.ive never owned an ipod.

The firmware for the classic is also heavily encrypted...
