Sansa won't play Winamp m3u playlist

(1/1)

gellfex:
I've searched here for an hour with no luck, so here goes:

I use Winamp to load podcasts onto the E280 in their folders into a folder named PODCASTS. Then I use Winamp to create a playlist from those files, (I then randomize it but edit certain shows to play in order), and save it in the PLAYLISTS folder. When I try to play the list it says LOADING then I get an error that flashes by so fast I can't read it and get thrown back to the playlist menu. When I play that playlist in Winamp is works fine, playing the files from the Sansa. Is there something basic I'm missing about this?

Below is the beginning of the file, it seems right to me, but I always use a player program to make m3u's, not a text editor.

At first glance I can't see anything wrong with it, but digging a little deeper into things I can only guess that it's trying to find a PODCASTS folder in your PLAYLISTS folder and going from there, and ends up unable to find the files. (From what I could find, your playlist is using a relative filepath, not an absolute one.) That being said, I would expect that to cause problems with Winamp as well, but as you stated, Winamp has no problems.

I would try making a playlist of your podcasts in Rockbox and seeing what differences come up (and seeing if Winamp can use that playlist.) I never had trouble with Winamp playlists back when I used to use them, but things may have changed since then which is causing your problems.

Another thing you could try would be adding .. to the beginning of each filepath entry (assuming M3U playlists accept that as part of a relative filepath entry.)

Or try putting the playlist as-is in the directory above Podcasts so the relative path works.
