Database crash on implementation on a 5th gen ipod vid

That seems strange, but the database is not known for it's lack of corruptibility.  Please try to initialize the database again and if that doesn't change anything, manually delete the *.tcd files from the .rockbox folder and try again.

there are no .tcd files in the .rockbox folder. any ideas?

Perhaps they're hidden.  Set Windows or Rockbox to show hidden files.

still nothing showing up with hidden folders shown. the crash just freezes  it on the screen, and needs to be rebooted. as if the system has shut down, and the image has just burned into the screen

Perhaps the files aren't created until the database has been successfully constructed at least once.  I don't know what else to suggest.
