H340 always charging on USB

I have tried installing the latest Rockbox on an H340 however when I restart the player it boots the original firmware and when I plug it into the computer it just says "charging" and does not detect by any of my XP machines.

I have tried resetting and all the things obvious to me...

Can anyone shed some light on this issue for me?

It sounds like the bootloader didn't get installed, if it is you should see some text when turning on the player.

It turns out the hard drive was formatted NTFS which is why it would not upgrade the firmware.
And to switch to disk mode you press Play.
