I (didn't) brick my C240, please help

I seemed to have bricked my Sansa C240 and cannot find a mi4 file for
it, I > made the error of using a C200 file and it now says invalid image.
Do you have access to a C240 file that you can point me to? I would
really appreciate it.
I have another unit (C240 as well) but can't seem to 'see' the boot file in the recovery area.
What I did to get here:
----------------------------
1. installed Rockbox successfully.
2. Played with the machine until it got screwed up somehow..(maybe it wasn't but it appeared to be)
3. I formatted the internal drive.
4. It booted up with recovery mode and I went ahead and used the instruction on 'if you bricked your machine'
5. That pointed me to a mi4 file BUT it was C200 (thought it didn't matter since was using Rockbox for the C200.) so I copied that into the recovery area and rebooted.
6. Now it says 'invalid image' and when it forces the recovery and I access the firmware update prog. it identifies the unit as C200 and it fails.
Please help...there goes my Christmas gift!...

It seems you did the first procedure from
here
but it didn't work. It's possible that the bootloader that is on your machine isn't compatible with the firmware version that you tried to load. It seems you should try again with the "Restoring the bootloader" instructions.
PS: I doubt that it was necessary to format the device in the first place. If you were able to mount it as a UMS device and format it then it seems the original firmware was bootable.

Thanks for your response.
The instructions says:
Enter recovery mode again and do the following:
* Copy the .mi4 file
* Copy a bootloader .rom (or .btl in the case of the R series models) file which is compatible with your firmware file (see here)
However, I do not have a copy of the .mi4 file (unless you're saying the c200 is good to use) and the .rom file where can I get that for the C240, the link on the instruction also is taking me to c200.

The only difference between c240 and c250 is the amount of on-board memory. We tend to use c200 and e200 as generic version numbers for c- and e- series Sansa models.

Continuing my campaign not to spread unnecessary fear, I've modified the title of this thread to reflect the fact that it wasn't bricked.

i want to thank the OP for this, it worked perfectly on win7 x64 just had to reboot and disable driver sig enforcement (same as i would if i where rockboxing an ipod classic) and follow the directions a few times before it took fully
This file should be added to the unbrick method for the c200, i got a c240 for 8 bucks in pretty damn good shape at good will, discovered the OF wouldnt work with the 8gb msd card i tossed into the unit, long story but, i formatted it and had to unbrick (doh!!!) but, it worked out, the units working great now, and its kinda a new toss around toy for me, im less worried about it getting damaged/lost then my x9,ipodclassic,r1,c2...or other higher end players, I kinda wish they would make a new version of this with better battery life, more storage and better screen, (higher res at same size would even be fine)
either way, it works fine now, i like the fact i can easily get a new battery for it or even get a few to swap out if needed. (cheap)
again thanks to the OP for this compile, it worked perfectly, far less work then messing around with live linux or the like
