e270 Not going past boot up screen

(1/1)

Scottydoo:
I just tried to install Rockbox on my Sansa e270, and went through all the steps. It rebooted and went back and did that other thing, and then rebooted again. But then it did the SanDisk logo that it normally does, and now is stuck there. It's frozen on the logo. When I removed the battery, and tried to boot it up again, same thing happened. Again, took out the battery and this time tried hooking it up to the computer to delete the files. But it still didn't get past the SanDisk logo. So now I've discovered the menu/select reset trick, but it's not doing anything. Is it bricked?

EDIT: I called SanDisk support and was able to fix my problems. It now functions fine. I am still unsure whether or not to upgrade to Rockbox again. Is it worth it?

Chronon:
I don't know what you mean by "that other thing".  Did you follow the manual or automatic installation instructions?

You are the only one who can decide whether or not it's worth it to you.  We can only give our various opinions about that.  In my opinion it's worth it since I use a number of features that the SanDisk firmware simply does not offer.

Scottydoo:
That other thing was... I can never remember the word for it... Refreshing Database or something. Anyways, I fixed it by downloading a couple files from the SanDisk site that support sent me to. Then reinstalled Rockbox, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

That's good to hear.   :)
