Help with Doom addons?

I just installed Rockbox today to my first generation iPod nano [and it's been a very fun day, of course :D ]
after lots of tooling around I got Doom installed and it works flawlessly, but for some reason I can't use addons. I've downloaded two and neither work. I created a folder in the directory .rockbox/doom labelled 'addons' so it goes to .rockbox/doom/addons as i've been instructed from a few places, but when I boot up my ipod and try to use the addons it won't load them right and I have to reset my ipod.

You cant use addons with doom shareware, but as for all other WADs, i havent had any problems. Do they appear in the addons menu in the doom plugin?

Many addons should work with freedoom.
