I just want my ipod fixed!!!! NOW!!!!!!!!

(1/1)

Comp_Illiterate:
So I have a fifth gen ipod and on friday I attempted to install the bootloader but had a problem this is what the screen says: Rockbox boot loader version: 3.0 Ipod version: 0x000B0011 HTC426030G5CE00 Partition 1: 0x0B 28521 MB Loading Rockbox... Error! Can't load Rockbox.ipod : File not found. Hold MENU +SELCECT to reboot then SELCET + PLAY FOR DISK MODE. Well, I follow the stupid instructions and when I try to take it out of Disk mode by holding menu and select I get back to the main page.
I have had this Ipod for a year and a half and I have never had a problem like this until I tried the fabulous rock box. Now I do not have a working Ipod and would like it working again so I can retain what is left of my sanity!!!!(sorry I'm just really p.o.'d about the whole situation.)

Chronon:
The instructions on the screen tell you how to get it into Disk Mode.  It sounds like you didn't install the actual firmware -- only the bootloader.  What did you do after putting it into Disk Mode?

You'll probably get more helpful responses if you turn the attitude down a bit.  People will be less inclined to help you when you shout at them.

jswetzen:
Only taking your iPod into Disc Mode won't do any good, but when it's in Disc Mode you can connect it to the computer again. When it's connected you have to download the firmware (http://build.rockbox.org/) and extract the .zip to the root of your player. When you're done you should see a folder named .rockbox along with the iPod Control, Contacts, Calendars and Notes folders in the root of your player.
I hope this helps :)

AlexP:
Calm down, there is nothing wrong with your ipod - you just didn't follow the instructions properly and have only half installed Rockbox.

As Chronon says, put it into disk mode by following the instructions, then complete the installation, as the manual tells you to.

by the way, the manual is located here:
