blackjack bug?
« on: December 16, 2008, 06:56:06 PM »
I was listening to music and exploring Rockbox, started up blackjack and played for a while. When I went to save it got stuck on the saving screen, and wouldn't shut down. FINALLY after many attempts, holding down the power/menu button worked, but now the whole thing is fried. From the forums and FAQ it seems to be in manufacturer mode.

               Sansa e270 v1

I haven't had the chance to try fixing it yet, fingers crossed. Just thought I should check if anyone has had this problem before continuing.

                                                     thanks
P.S. I did see one post of a similar blackjack problem elsewhere, on an iRiver I think

The scroll wheel lights up, but that's it. Even when I plug it in to my computer (windows XP) the light turns on but there are no errors on the computer or the player, not so much as a sandisk splash.

I'm incredibly embarrassed to say that out of laziness I made a TOTAL noob mistake! I didn't have the right size screw driver available and so I never tried removing the battery. When I finally had lost ALL hope of fixing my Sansa I decided to just take a knife to it, took out the screws opened it up and took out the battery. I was planning on just dissecting it..... but something told me to try ONE LAST time before totally disassembling it, and it WORKED! Thank you everyone for trying to help, and sorry for the waste of time. So whats the lesson boys and girls? "ALWAYS try removing the battery BEFORE any of the software and firmware changes!" LOL

I believe there is nothing that removing the battery can fix that a long press of the power button can not also accomplish.

It's technically possible to confuse the pcf chip enough that only a battery disconnect (or full discharge) brings things back to a sane state.
