sansa 200 playlist with 8gb micro sdhc
jtjames:
One way I found that works is to load the songs into the rockboxed player. I am using Amarok on Ubuntu so you may need to google for a media player that supports .m3u playlists, I believe Foobar2000 does. Then I import the songs from the player instead of from the computer (open as a file, or import or whatever your media player supports) from there I organise the music files in the order I would like them to play, then save the playlist. Open the playlist with a text editor and look for the string of text that looks something like this "/media/Sansa e260/*file the music is in*/*artist*/*album*/*song.mp3*" Now delete the "/media/Sansa e260" using find replace (just replace with nothing) and put the .m3u file in the root directory and it should work.
Anyone have a better way of doing this I would love to hear about it. Sorry if my instructions are not too clear I just figured this out a few hours ago and am kind of fuzzy brained. ;D
Chronon:
Any decent media player software for your PC should support .m3u playlists -- it's a pretty standard format for a long time now.
Have you tried any of these playlists without doing the find and replace? The Rockbox playlist parser should strip off leading directories to see if it can find a match in the player's file tree.

O'rly! Running late; will have to try it later, but that would be very useful information to include in the manual. Would of saved me at least 4 hours of trial and error (ok I am new to play lists but still). Thanks for the info ;D

Yes. That does seem to be a tidbit that hasn't made it into the manual. Feel free to submit a patch or bug report for this. I might try to whip up a patch later if I have time.
