Senda C200 not recognized by Windows XP
(1/1)
Tai1:
I just found the solution to a problem I had with recognition by Windows XP. I don't know if anyone else has the same problem, but i could not find the solution posted anywhere, so I thought I would contribute my 2 cents for this great community. If this is a duplicate, my apology!
Symptom: Windows XP does not recognize the Sansa drive, or the extra Micro SD drive, when a certain micro SD card is plugged in to the C200.
Solution: Use a separate SD card reader and plug in the problem-causing micro SD chip into Windows. In Win Explorer, view the property of the drive that corresponding to the micro SD. Go to AutoPlay tab, and for each type of files under the "Select a content type ..." heading, choose the "Select an action to perform" radio button, and under it, select "Take no action". After you have done this with all file types, click OK to exit the property dialog box. To make sure Windows have memorized the settings, go through the above again.
This should fix the problem. What happened was if any file type specifies the "Prompt me ..." radio button, this chip (along with the C200, when plugged into it) will not be recognized by Windows and no prompt will come up.
Hope the above will save someone's headache and hours of trial and error (as I have spent). Cheers to the development team!

This sort of info belongs in the wiki. I think it would belong somewhere around here:
