Copy bootloader from player (Cowon iAudio X5)?

(1/1)

Daan:
Hi,

A while ago I patched and compiled rockbox for my iAudio X5 to have dual booting. I works very well, however, I forgot to save a copy of the compiled file, and compiling was a lot of work (for me). Installation of new firmware is performed by putting the new firmware in the folder "firmware" in the root directory of the device and after installing it is gone from that folder.

Can I somehow find the boatloader (I think that is what I compiled) and copy it from the device?

Thanks,

Daan

LinusN:
No you can't, unless you write a plugin that reads the firmware back from the flash into a file. I think it is much simpler to just compile it again.

Daan:
Actually I compiled something yesterday (a simulator) and it was not that hard after all. And writing a plugin involves compiling anyway, so... ;-)
