installing on generic ipod?

i recently bough a generic ipod nano off ebay and i dont like the firmware it came with, i would like to put rockbox on it but its not being detected and i dont know who the manufacturer is either, any suggestions

Rockbox only runs on the exact players listed on the front of the site.

guess im out of luck with that one, i still want to put different firmware on it, how do i go about doing that?

Please ask that somewhere that people actually know about your MP3 player. These  forums are for support and development of Rockbox, not a general-purpose MP3 player support forum.

its an oem ipod just with a different operating system on it, you dont have to be an ass about it

There are no OEM ipods, if someone told you that, they were scamming you.
