My ipod 4th gen went crazy after installing rockbox (Solved)
« on: December 09, 2008, 04:22:12 AM »
Actually i don't really know where to post this post , but since my ipod booted once successfully with rockbox i can't post it in installation/removal ...
anyway ,
here's the problem ,
I've installed rockbox on my ipod 4th gen , using rbutilqt executable and everything went alright , thought the wiki was down at that time ,
anyway , i booted it using rockbox and i loved it so much , everything worked alright and all , so i went to bed , the next morning when i wanted to switch on the ipod it just went out of the battery ,
i attached it to the computer , the rockbox logo showed up , then the USB sign , and also the battery icon was empty , anyway , after the usb icon in rockbox , this thing showed up , the ipod's battery charging thing , but it doesn't move , i tried to switch it on with the lock key locked but it doesn't boot up , it doesn't charge , and it doesn't boot up , it just shows the apple sign and then it clicks ' like tick' and then  switches off and again and again it repeats ,
and while I'm connecting it to my linux box , the lspci command doesn't recognizes anything , can anyone help me ?

Well, I can't help you with the rest, but the lspci command only lists pci cards. lsusb lists USB devices.

Try connecting your iPod to a wall charger and let it sit there to charge. Give it a nice long time; 24 hours will do. Afterwards, you should be able to use your iPod normally.

This is a known bug in the Apple firmware, where it sometimes assumes a flat battery when that is not the case. Charging it for a long time usually snaps it back to normal. If you're still having problems, let us know.
