I am using an intel based desktop with Ubuntu Linux 8.10 (32-bit) to install Rockbox on my 2nd Generation iPod. My firewire iPod was originally Mac formatted. I restored it on a Windows PC to Windows format, so that I can use it with Linux.
I have already extracted Rockbox files into the iPod and am running ipodpatcher when I get these errors.
I did find a couple of topics in this forum about similar errors. I've tried most of the remedies, but the errors won't go. I've tried restoring the iPod multiple times, front and back firewire ports with two different cables, to no avail.
Are there any other known situations when these errors are known to occur? Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
mma
EDIT: I took a hint from a post about ipodpatcher (http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=19654.msg140242#msg140242) and tried the following:
--- Code: --- % sudo rmmod sbp2
% sudo modprobe -v sbp2 workarounds=0x1f
--- End code ---
The installation worked just fine. In fact, after doing this, the iPod is detected much quicker. Thanks morris
