Ipod (5th gen,60GB) or toshiba gigabeat(60GB) for flac playback ??
(1/1)
PENBOX:
hello rockbox people :)
i have a crappy mp3 player(samsung yp-u3, it was a gift) and now i want to get something better,
originally i wanted to get cowon iaudio x5 since it supports flac 'out-of-the-box' but can't find it anywhere in England,
that leaves me with ipod(i don't like apple products) or toshiba(£100 more expensive than ipod with same HDD)
oh and more thing, is it hard to install it because i wouldn't want to be left with expensive paperweight ;D
thanks for reading.
Llorean:
I don't know what your question is, exactly. Both support FLAC playback in Rockbox, yes. The installation is quite easy, and covered in the documentation.
AlexP:
I'm not entirely sure what the question is, but...
I would take the F over an ipod, and if you look on ebay the F comes up on ebay cheaply from time to time. I got my F40 for something like $95 including shipping from US to UK, which worked out at about £60 at the time.
Zardoz:
I'd go for a Toshiba Gigabeat if at all possible. iPods are supported only as far as 5.5gen, I'm sure you know (iPod video, 80GB), but are more available. I used to have an iAudio but some swine stole it!:( I got my 5.5 80GB something like a year ago from http://www.deviltronics.com in the UK, for about 140euros and it's been fine. Lots of deals are available online for rockboxable players but most ship to the US only. Do you know anyone stateside?? People announce special offers they see on these forums (fora), so keep an eye out. Maybe check here http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=19155.0
good hunting!
