Where are the viewers for Video and Pictures?
« on: November 27, 2008, 01:24:43 PM »
RockBox is a great program, (thanks to all of you who  spent so much hours getting it to work right)  but isn't there suppose to be a VIEWER folder all I see is Games Applications and Demos.  I finally got up to speed with software on my Sansa e260 and Sansa e280. I didn't know you can use 8GB microSDHC I thought the limit was 4GB. But hear it's 8GB or is there no limit?

I would like to be able to open JPEG if that's something that can be done using RockBox. I hate to flip back to the Sansa GUI to use it. Also Video how can that be done. I don't see any Video Player?

Any help or some sort of direction where I should go would be helpful.

I've gone over the manual, but it points to the Mpeg Viewer and Jpeg Viewer are suppose to be the Viewer folder or they get installed when you install Rockbox, where no Viewer shows up after using the Rock Box Ults on the device. I'll take a look at those links you provided above and try it again.

Thanks for the links..

Viewers are plugins which are associated with specific file extensions. They cannot be run directly but are started by “playing” the associated file. Viewers are stored in the /.rockbox/rocks/viewers/ directory.

In other words, you select the file that you want to view and the viewer opens automatically.

Okay I get it now I thought there was a separate viewer that you could use. I created a 9-minute movie from youtube download. Used MPEG-VCR I see that the fps has to be either 27 and not use 29.7fps. That worked perfect.

Sansa e200     220x176           27fps     37fps     r16023  25fps
The bold is what I have to use.

Now for the jpeg okay I see that sansa demo images are bmps so the Rockbox can't see them.  I converted one of the GUI I create skin themes and plugins for Hauppauge MediaMVP taking 600x400 down to  176 width 244 height worked!

Everything is set then thanks for pointing things out..

I'll need to order 8GB microSDHC now .. I'll going to have fun thanks!
