PATA vs ZIF - Newbie Question

(1/1)

ericmilam:
Looking for new HD's for an upgrade I found the following in the Wiki List

Model #        Capacity (GB)     Connector     Thickness (mm)
MK1231GAL    120                        ZIF 40              5

Found one online for very cheap, however the interface listed on the website (and Toshiba's) is PATA.  Is there a difference?  (I am assuming there is...)

Is there a converter from 50pin (Gigabeat F10) to PATA?  If so can someone please provide a link?

Thanks in Advance,
Eric

The serial number (MK1231GAL) is unique to that exact model.  It's a PATA (near-synonyms ATA, IDE, ATAPI) drive with a ZIF 40 connector.  You're looking at the right drive.

Eric,

The subject of ZIF/IDE Adaptors, complete with lovely photos of a Gigabeat, is covered in the wiki.  Look under hardware projects.
