Songs loading really slowly on sansa E250

When I go to choose a song on my sansa (using rockbox version r18750-081009), it counts down from 350 or something, down to 1, then loads my song. 

It used to do so fairly quickly, now it takes forever. I remember this happening before, but don't remember what I did. Is it something along the lines of reformatting my sansa? if so: how?

It's generally not recommended to reformat flash memory because it's randomly accessed and has a limited number of writes before it's pretty much toast (it's a huge number but still...)  I'm not sure what could be causing it, but you might try clearing your settings and seeing if it still loads slowly on the default settings.

Alright, I went through my settings and couldn't find a reset to default option, so I sort of looked around. Initializing/updating the database didn't do anything, reorganizing didn't either. I'm not sure what else to do?

The reformatting thing doesn't sound like fun, but as a last resort I might try it. Any idea how I'd go about doing it, and what precautions to take?

According to the manual (which may be out-dated...) there's a "Reset Settings" option in the "Manage Settings" menu, you can use that (if it actually exists still) to clear all settings back to their defaults. Alternately, you can also reset settings by holding the Record button when powering on your player.

Yes, this is up to date.  You can also, as the manual says, hold REC while booting to clear the settings.
