This should not require you to wait until the battery is empty.  Use the reset key combination as I indicated in my prior post.

another issue is that my ipod is freezing since yesterday everytime when i disconnect it from my computer. only the apple appears and remains with light switched on untill the battery turns off. I already tried everything, put it in the diskmode, reinstall rockbox... but nothing works!

thanks in advance for any help!

I can´t do anything against that frozen apple. I tried the combinations you told me but it´s not working. so Ill wait untill it´s completely empty and then I load it for 5 minutes, only as long as required that the apple doesn´t show up again... anything else does not work

Try it again.  You might have to hold the button combination for up to 30 seconds.

ok finally I got my ipod into disk mode and tried to run the chkdsk /f. but my Ipod is not recognised only my external harddisk, even after I disconnected my harddisk the chkdisk was not possible. the window is closing emediately without any activity. Ill charge my ipod now for some time and then I will see if I can run rockbox with the 30 seconds holding technique  :-[

edit: works again!!! thanks for your help! no idea why it works now but anyways I am very happy.... I was really desperate in the end.

good night!

Well, you won't be able to run chkdsk unless Windows recognizes your iPod as a hard drive and assigns it a drive letter.  But if you can get it to do so, then you'll need to run chkdsk from a command prompt, not from a Window.

Go to Start --> Run.  In the dialog box, type "cmd" and then click the "OK" button.  Then follow the instructions here:
