auto adjust volume
nloewen:
Could there be a option for the mic on my mp3 player to detect noise volumes and adjust the playing volume accordingly with a volume limit?
saratoga:
I don't think any current rockbox targets can record and play at the same time.
Chronon:
Also, with in-ear speakers the amount of volume change at the microphone (such as on an e200 or H140) does not give a good indication of volume change inside of your ear canal. I.e. the amount you might wish to have the volume change would be strongly dependent on the particular headphones you use.

So then go a little bit more advanced and put a volume increase setting on there.
Llorean:
Yes, and then when you take the player out of your pocket, the sudden increase in ambient loudness will cause your player to absolutely deafen you if your player's calibrated to your pocket's muffling of outside noise.
It's completely impractical for an idea like this to work effectively.
