Loud Ringing Noise when in Rockbox Firmware on switch on

Sometimes, not all the time, maybe 7 boots out of 10 I turn on my player and there's this horrible ringing noise that really hurts my ears until I select a song to play, then it goes away... any ideas or suggestions?

You've posted in another thread re problems with the player connecting in MSC mode when booting - the two problems make me strongly suspect the player hardware being defective.
