Can't Load rockbox.ipod
GoXeL:
i tried many times. i can't reboot ipod. apple logo doesn't appear. what should i do ?
GodEater:
If the reboot shortcut doesn't work it's pretty likely that the hardware is damaged in some way.
You have one last resort though, which is opening the ipod - disconnecting the battery, and then reconnecting it again.
Pretty tricky to do with most ipods though unless you have the right tools to do it.

Same problem here on 5.5G 80GB...
AlexP:
Which problem? The can't find rockbox.ipod (the solution for which is outlined above), or the can't reboot, which is a hardware shortcut.
For the rebooting, try to turn hold on then off before doing it.

Hi, I'm new here and this is the first time I try to install Rockbox.
I have the same problem as GoXeL (same 5.5th Gen Video iPod with a 80GB hard disk). Here is an answer to reboot your iPod (which is the official way to do it): put the Hold button ON, and then OFF, and then press Menu+Select at the same time for 5 seconds (at least), it should work everytime but don't forget the Hold button trick before.
As for the rockbox.ipod missing file, I have the same problem and can't answer. I tried the manual and automatic installation, ipodpatcher and everything, and nothing works. I have the following error message:
--- Code: ---Rockbox boot loader
Version: 3.0
IPOD version: 0x000B0011
TOSHIBA MK8010GAH
Partition 1: 0x0B 19045 MB
loading Rockbox...
Error!
Can't load rockbox.ipod:
File not found...
Hold MENU+SELECT to reboot
then SELECT+PLAY for disk mode
--- End code ---
The problem is that I have a 80GB iPod, but the error message says it has 19045 MB which is the strange thing to me. I'll come back if I find something else to solve this problem...
Edit: I forgot to say that the .rockbox folder do exists, and that I see the "missing" rockbox.ipod file, and all the system: fonts, icons, langs, ...
