Saving position problem
SxNova:
Using both the release version 3.0 and the latest build, when I pause my player, let it shut down from being idle, then restart the player, it doesn't save the exact position I left off at. I download radio shows that are about 4 hours long, and its always about 20 minutes off of when I left it when I turn it on, so I have to fast forward every time. Bookmarking seems to work, but I'd like to just pause and have it save the position because sometimes I'll go back to it before it shuts down. Any advice would be appreciated!
Edit: Well I've been playing around and it seems to be an issue with bookmarks. Saving my position when I let the player power off works fine until I enable bookmarking then save one. Then every time I start up the player and select resume playback, it will start from the bookmarked position instead of where the track was when I paused it.
Looks like bookmarking and resume playback dont like to play together. Resume playback started working again after I turned off bookmarking, but I'd like to be able to use both depending on the situation. Bookmarking for when I feel like saving my place in a show that I've downloaded and listening to music, and resume playback for when I need to pause in a hurry and not sure if it will only be stopped for a minute, or long enough for my sansa to auto shut off. As it is now, if I create a bookmark, listen for a half hour after that point, then pause and my player auto shuts off, its going to start at the bookmarked point, even when selecting resume playback.
Is this a known issue, or am I doing something wrong? :P
Strife89:
Here's a few settings that might help you out, and they're all under Settings/General Settings/Bookmarking.
Load Last Bookmark is probably set to "Yes", so have a look at that setting.
Bookmark On Stop will probably help you tremendously with the "How long will this be stopped?" dilemma - though you will have to get into the habit of stopping (not pausing) playback.

This is almost certainly your problem. If set to 'Yes', playback always resumes from the last bookmark.

This is incorrect. Bookmark On Stop does create a bookmark on an idle poweroff when paused.
SxNova you therefore have basically two solutions to your problem. Either set Load Last Bookmark to 'No' or 'Ask' OR set Bookmark on Stop to 'Yes'.
If you set Bookmark on Stop to 'Yes', you may want to look into the Maintain a list of Recently Used Bookmarks setting. This will allow the 'on Stop' bookmark to be created without deleting any previous one you may have manually created.
Either will give the behaviour you desire, the choice being only which is better for you.
If you haven't already looked, the manual covers these settings quite well:

SxNova:
No, the Load Last Bookmark wasn't set to "yes". In fact, it kept resuming from the bookmarked place, even after I deleted the bookmark. Resume playback only started working after I turned off the option to bookmark.
And the behavior I desire is to be able to use both bookmarking AND resume playback! I don't want to load a bookmark every single time because my player goes off and on quite a bit throughout the day due to the nature of my job.

If you set Load Last Bookmark to 'yes', you don't have to do anything, it loads automatically.
However, as this does not seem to be the root problem here can you answer the following questions:
Which player?
Which version are you currently running that is experiencing the problem (version number please)?
How are you initiating playback in the first instance (e.g. File browser or Database)
How are you resuming playback when the problem occurs?
--- Quote from: SxNova on November 16, 2008, 09:38:48 PM ---Saving my position when I let the player power off works fine until I enable bookmarking then save one.
--- End quote ---
What do you mean by that? You can't enable/disable bookmarking, so it must be one of the settings we've already discussed that's causing the problem.
Can you list all your bookmarking-related settings whilst the player is experiencing the resume playback issue that you originally described?
