POWEROFF WHILE CHARGING
« on: November 13, 2008, 11:10:03 PM »
I am using rockbox in my car with an adapter.  The idle poweroff mechanism does not work when i have the adapter plugged in.  I went into the ipodvideo config file and uncommented HAVE_POWEROFF_WHILE_CHARGING and it still won't poweroff when charging.  I thought that was the point of that option.  Is the fact that I have something plugged into the dock connector different from charging?

1) This wasn't an install question. Please read POSTING IN THIS FORUM in a section before posting.

2) The hardware itself can't be powered off while charging, so trying to tell Rockbox it can when compiling a custom build won't work how you want it to anyway.

that makes me wonder why there's an option in all of the config header files for "HAVE_POWEROFF_WHILE_CHARGING".  I guess that's just a leftover thing that someone was tryin that didn't work.

You may infer by the various comments such as "define this if the hardware can be powered off while charging" that it's a standard header that is then copied into a customized copy for each hardware. In fact, note it says "if the hardware can be" rather than "if you want to enable the feature."

Rockbox does run on a lot of other hardware, and the iPod certainly was far from the first.
