cant find ipod error
firespike8:
I know that this will probably be a similar question to the error when installing, cant find ipod by MXIIA. The same thing happened to me but this time when i entered the sudo command on the terminal application it wouldn't work (I don't know where I'm supposed to enter the sudo command,I entered it exactly as i saw it). Sorry if this is just wasting your time but I really would like to have rockbox on my 3rd gen ipod. :(
Chronon:
Maybe you could post the commands that you have tried in code tags. It will help us to see where you may have made a mistake. The manual installation instructions don't explicitly mention the sudo command (but do say you need to be the root user). What instructions are you following?
firespike8:
um well it did say you had to open it in root mode which I dont know how to do on my mac so i tried using the sudo command..I was using what llorien said "Try using "sudo ./ipodpatcher" anyway".Here is what it said on the ipod patcher:
--- Code: ---ipodpatcher v3.0 with v3.0 bootloaders - (C) Dave Chapman 2006-2007

Sorry im really bad at using macs im better at using pc's.
Rockbox utility also says the following:
--- Code: ---Starting bootloader installation
Searching for ipods
Downloading file bootloader3g.ipod
Download finished
Could not open ipod
--- End code ---
Chronon:
That should work. :-\
Did you also use sudo when launching Rockbox Utility?
Is your iPod set to connect in MSC mode?
firespike8:
I didn't use sudo when launching rock box utility and what exactly do you mean by "Is your ipod set to connect is MSC mode?"
I'll use sudo on the utility now. Thanks for giving your time up to help me :)
BTW:
sudo ./rockboxutility
Password:
sudo: ./rockboxutility: command not found
