e280 unicode (SJIS)

On my Sansa e280, i switched the default codepage to Japanese (SJIS), and it still doesn't display the characters correctly ([][][]).  Is this a problem with the sansa itself or am i doing something wrong?

You need to pick a font that has unicode characters. Try unifont.
