Lockup on e260 not rhapsody
« on: November 06, 2008, 10:07:44 PM »
I was scrolling around while an MP3 was playing.

I pressed the bottom d-pad button, scrolled to Settings, Recording Settings, went in to Source and then backed out using |<<, went in to channels and then backed out using |<<, then went in to Format, I then selected mp3 and got: "Data abort at 000C7AC  (C)". Music stopped about 500 milliseconds later.

Sansa was totally locked, I eventually pulled out the battery to shut it off. I then reassembled it, all seems normal.

Rockbox Version r18607-3.0-080923.

HTH.

Hi.  You can hold the power button for 15 seconds or more to reset a frozen e2x0.

Is this a reliable way to produce this error?

Nah. The problem does not repeat, sorry.

Also, I suffered a lockout just this afternoon, as follows: I shut the player off (was playing via Rockbox before shutting down), I had shutdown the normal way, via power button.
I drove home with it in a belt pouch. Later, I took it out of the pouch, this was 3 hours after shutting it down, hooked it up via its USB cable to my laptop where it has always worked. Sansa wasn't recognized by the laptop, and nothing happened on its screen. I could not get it to turn on. I locked the lock button, pressed record button and pressed power, then the player started up and complained about being locked, then shut itself off. I pressed power, it started right up, and the battery indicator showed more than zero, but close to empty.

Possibly the device got powered on while it was in my belt pouch, but the battery graph seemed to show more than empty when it finally started up.

This sounds an awful lot like the believed-to-be-Apple-bug where an iPod "thinks" the battery is dead even when it is not.
