For my master's thesis/project, I'm planning to compare the measures of distracted driving while drivers drive in a simulator and search for songs on a traditional (silent, visually demanding) iPod interface versus the Rockbox auditory interface.
This research is an extension of the work that Salvucci, Brumby, & co. did a few years ago. They showed that drivers drift in their lane while they search on the traditional iPod. I'd like to take it a step further, showcase Rockbox and test some additional measures to see if an interface designed for visually impaired users can also benefit drivers.
Within Salvucci & Brumby's documentation, there's a mention of a plug-in developed through Rockbox to measure the amount of time the user spent actively searching for each file (which I assume is driven off of a time marker to time of song selection).
Having this capability would be a huge, huge help. I've checked the forums, plug-in index, and the manual with no luck. Salvucci has never responded to me, but Josh Hoffman (another driving research guy) confirmed that this plug-in does exist.
Could you please point me to the right direction of where to get the plug-in, or where to activate it within the .rockbox structure?
Super thanks for your time,
