Searching for material to create theme for iPod (5G) looking... 1. Success!

Hey everyone,

I've read myself through different guides on this page and I'm ready (to try) to create my own theme.
Since I want it to look very similar to the original iPod 5.G WPS, I need to have the original elements, i.e. the "Play"-triangle in the top left corner.
I've already googled for some galleries, no success. Maybe somebody of you can help me?! That would be awesome!
In detail, I want to make the original status bar & font size smaller and add some information to the WPS (bitrate, battery time left, genre). The rest should basically stay the same. That should be possible, isn't it?

You might want to simply recreate the ipod theme by extracting the graphics it uses. i don't know how, but this tool is capable of doing this task for you. Read about it there, and then come back, once you've succeeded in stripping all the graphics you need off your device.

Just a note for you:  You won't be allowed to post your theme to the WPS gallery here because of copyright issues.  That won't prevent you from using the theme yourself, however...

Ah, I hadn't caught that earlier...

Either way, have fun and let us know how it goes.  If you need a hand I'd be willing to give out a few pointers, since I've got a little experience behind me...

Okay, with big help of Karashata I was able to create the following themes which are based on the original iPod icons, although I think the b/w icons are designed for iPod touch. I still wonder why they were on my firmware o_O
I'm still working on them (shuffle and repeat icons and some small things)
What do you think of it?

The coloured version looks nice, the black one is rather minimalistic...
Hit me up for help on creating the repeat and shuffle states, if you like.

I think the black icons are actually used for video playback, which explains the minimalistic look.

If anyone could contact k1llerunit, I'd like to have his theme as well. For my final graduate project, I'm running an experiment on the 5G Video iPod using Rockbox software, and I need it to look as much like the iPod as possible.

Any help is much appreciated; I think I'll run with the Escape Pod Plus in the meantime, per Kit's lead...I'm not sure I have the chops to create my own theme

k1llerunit can distribute his code, but the only proper way to get the graphics is for you to extract them yourself.
