OGG and battery performance

This is my first post and i have a couple of questions:

The ogg format will drain more battery than mp3 format? i know rockbox use more battery compare to iPod (iPod mini 2G) normal system.

Right now with all mp3 track and rockbox, my ipod usually takes about 3.40 hours before die... playing files ogg the battery will die in less time?

At the moment, yes. The mp3 decoder is currently able to operate on many files without even boosting the cpu (on ipods).

On some ipods Rockbox gets more battery life, on others it is now close to the Apple firmware.  I'm not sure which category the mini 2nd Gen falls into, but either way 3hrs40 is not normal.  It sounds like you need a new battery.
