Sandisk Sansa E250 (Ver 1) freezes when connected to computer
« on: October 28, 2008, 04:01:40 AM »
I have just installed Rockbox for the first time using the automatic software installation.  It all seems to work fine, however, as soon as I plug it into the computer, the Sansa E250 freezes.  There is a picture of a USB cable on the screen and Windows displays the message: "USB Device not recognized".

With the previous Sandisk software, there were no issues with connecting to the computer.

Any ideas?

Rockbox does not have USB support for the PP targets, yet.  So, you need to boot into OF to transfer files.  Plus, I think it says this in the manual.

At this time, USB insertion should cause a reboot into the SanDisk firmware for USB mode.  Unfortunately, this has been a bit inconsistent.  If it doesn't work with your current build, then you can first turn off your player before inserting the cable, or manually boot into the SanDisk firmware before inserting.

How can you manually boot the Sandisk firmware? I have rockbox installed so I can use SDHC cards, but everytime I try to rolo-load Sansa firmware the player freezes, same if I try to connect it to my computer.

The manual explains how to dual-boot ...
