Other Emulators
« on: November 23, 2005, 02:10:11 AM »
What is the possibility of eventually having an NES and/or SNES emulator on the iRiver h300 series? I think it would be pretty damn amazing. Here's some research I did:

Open source NES emulators:

http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/nes/fceultra.html
http://fakenes.sourceforge.net/
http://qmt.ath.cx/~nes/nintendulator/

Open source SNES emulator:

http://zsnes.sourceforge.net/

nes: maybe. snes, HELL NO. processor isnt anywhere near powerful enough. modern pcs can barely emulate some of the on-cart GFX chips.

you realistically expected to emulate a snes with a 140Mhz processor with no floating point unit. ie, less than a 486?

nester uses directx and probably wouldnt be a good source for a port.
fce ultra's sourceforge site is broken.
the other two i'm not sure about.

Does all emulators work on all players or on a certain type of player? But I haven't tried the emulator yet. I might have to see whats like.

Obviously, emulators do only run on targets that are actually capable of running them - e.g. a NES emulator would be quite pointless on an Archos with a 12 Mhz CPU and a Charcell display...
