Creating Playlist Help

(1/1)

Greslore:
Greetings all,

I have 30gb iPOD Video with latest version of Rockbox.  I have a directory on the ipod with an audio book that has about 300 mp3s to it.  The problem is that I can't quite seem to get it to play in sequential order.

If I attempt to navigate to the directory via "files", I see the mp3s in alphabetically order which is also the order I would like to listen to them to.  But, Rockbox doesn't play them in the same order they are displayed.  When I use the database option, again they appear to be in the correct order, but don't play in that same order.

So, I figure I would create a playlist.  I am using linux as a host computer, go into the directory and type in "ls >> mybook.m3u".   I tried copying this playlist file to the root of the ipod, but it doesn't work.  I tried copying the m3u file also to the same directory that has the book mp3s on the ipod, but this doesn't seem to work either.  Then I realized that I am not sure if I need to somehow specify the mp3 filename with full path inside of the m3u on the ipod in some way?

I tried reading the manual, but it doesn't seem to detail this.

Any help would be much appreciated  ;D

Chronon:
In what order does Rockbox play them?  If you select any track in the directory from the file browser the result should be a dynamic playlist of all subsequent tracks in that directory in the order that they appear.

The paths in a saved m3u playlist should include the path to the media files relative to your player's root.  The parser will strip off leading directories looking for a match.  (I'm not sure I'm phrasing this clearly.)

Greslore:
I'm not quite sure what the order is that Rockbox is playing them in.  It seems random almost.  It is not alphabetic nor numeric.

The file format for the files are like the following:

Shakespeare, William -- Hamlet -- Disc 1 - 01.MP3
Shakespeare, William -- Hamlet -- Disc 1 - 02.MP3
.
.
Shakespeare, William -- Hamlet -- Disc 4 - 01.MP3

Could it be the comma or dashes that is throwing Rockbox off?

MarcGuay:
It sounds to me like you have Shuffle on.

Oh for crying out loud...  I feel like a big ole dummy now!  You were right.  Shuffle was switched to on.

Good call!  ;D
