Skip to next dir with playlist problem

(1/1)

Coyote:
Hi,

I think I'm currently having a bug with my h300. It's reproducible with the last UI simulator.
I've search an answer in the forum but didn't anything.

Here's the steps to reproduce :
- load a playlist
- go to the WPS
- skip to the next dir (play + right)

Now comes the fun part : the playlist will stop and you'll go back to the main menu. If you hit play, it'll says that there 'nothing to resume'. But if you go to 'playlists' and 'view current playlist', you'll see it and will be able to resume.

As the skip to next/prev dir are mapped to same button as 'play' on the lcd remote (you push the button for play, flip it for next/prev dir), it's quite annoying.

Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening ?
Thanks for your help !

PaulJam:
Hi,

i think it is by design that skipping to the next directory only works when playback was started by selecting a music file. If you play a playlist file there isn't really a "current" directory, so you can't tell which is the next directory and it just jumps to the end of the playlist and stops there.
I think the fact that you can still view the old playlist is an intended feature (the same happens if you let the playlist finish normally).

Coyote:
That's what I thought too.
But I think that it shouldn't do anything (except maybe a splash screen).

Regarding the state of the current playlist after the skip to next dir, I'd like to add that the cursor stills remember what music it was previously playing. So I think we can say that it doesn't jump to the end of the playlist.

Coyote:
Should I fill a bug report ?

I ran into the same 'issue.'  In hindsight it makes sense, but the documentation doesn't point out the two different concepts of looking at the same data.

Two proposals

'Change documentation of Random_Folder_Advance plugin to warn people that a database 'album' is not the same as a directory folder and if you initiate playback as a database album there will be no 'advance.'

or

Create a Random_Album_Advance feature.  (Similar to the Ipod 'shuffle by album' feature - which is what I was trying to replicate.)
