Volume when attached to car

<< < (2/3) > >>

Chronon:
The amplitude depends, among other things, upon the difference in impedance.  Mismatch of impedance can ruin an otherwise suitable source.

soap:
The impedance is not an issue if it works with Apple firmware but not our firmware.

HorchataKing - Do you use the EQ?  Replaygain?  Rockbox should and did output through the dock connector at line level - the exact same level as the Apple firmware.

But you're saying you do hear the audio, just quietly, HorchataKing?

For laughs and giggles turn on and off the accessory power option - though I don't think this is it.

I'm nowhere near my dock-to-lineout dongle - could someone else test if something recently broke dock lineout @ 0db?

EDIT:  HorchataKing - I was putting the cart before the horse.  We need to verify hardware functionality:

You didn't explicitly mention using THIS iPod with the original firmware, you mentioned "other ipods" having no problems.  You need to verify that THIS iPod when using Apple firmware does not exhibit the same problem.

True.  I missed that bit.   :-\

HorchataKing:
This ipod that currently has rockbox worked previously with Apple firmware with no problems. I only hear the music quietly if I have the volume on the radio deck maxed out then I get more of that annoying hum sound than music. tried the accessory power - nothing happened, Radio deck EQ is set to boost the ipod line level in 12db.

Cool, half way there.
1 - verify that Apple firmware works currently with your head-unit.
2 - If it does reset all Rockbox settings by switching the hold switch to the on (red) position as soon as you see the Rockbox logo.  You should see a "cleared" dialog if this works correctly.
