If you format with windows, there is something missing on the hard drive so it can bootI had this problem before and the only way was to reload an image from a working gigabeat.You can try to reformat with the gigabeat format utility or perhaps make an update but I think it will still don't workI can send you an image of a working gigabeat that you can load on it if you want
