ipod patcher doesn't see ipod

I have an ipod video 5g(30gb) and i am trying to install rockbox on it.  I could not get the rockbox utility to find the ipod so i tried to install it manually.  I followed all the steps in the manual, but ipod patcher doesn't recognize my ipod.  Here is what the terminal spit out

You need root rights. Try "sudo ./rbutilqt"
