Help Adding New Songs
« on: October 14, 2008, 09:52:41 PM »
Okay so I've had rockbox for a rew weeks and was expeiriencing no problems at all.  But then last week I tried to put some new songs on my Sansa e200 series and it didn't work, so i was like what and tried to put it on again and that time it did work.  and thats happened every single time ive tried to put music on my mp4 player i didnt really mind it but then yesterday something different happened i tried to put songs on my mp4 and it didnt work so i followed my usual routine of jsut putting them on again but it still never worked and ive tried adn tried again, rest the settings updated the database and nothing worked they arent in any ignored folders or anything (they are on my microsd card if that helps).  Anyone got any ideas? cause i have no idea what do to

USB is handled by the original firmware, so changes in Rockbox will not affect whether or not you can copy songs to your player.

Please describe exactly what you're doing, because you keep talking about "putting songs on my player" but then you talk about updating the database?

Is your problem that you think you put the songs on, but they don't show up anywhere, or simply that they are on the player but aren't showing up in the database view? (Which would mean they're on it, you just can't get the database scan to find them, or display them.)

How were the songs ripped, and in what format are they and their tags?

I asked how they were ripped, not how they were put on the player.

And what tag format: ID3v1, ID3v2, APEv2?

Did you use any program to tag the MP3?

No, I converted it, edited the information in its properties and then added it on to my player.  I didn't do anything else with the files

Well, you need to determine if the file properly has ID3v1 or ID3v2 tags on it, as that's the only type of tag the Rockbox database will pick up.

When you dragged them over, did the Sansa appear as a drive letter in Explorer, or as something different?  What I'm getting at here is that the USB mode in the Sansa firmware must be set to MSC *not* MTP.  Could you check that?  Can you see the files if you navigate to them through files in Rockbox?
