I've found this, containing this file. Is this what you meant?
Yes. Be aware that you need to tell ipodpatcher explicitly to use that file, otherwise it will use the included bootloader. You need to run ipodpatcher from the command line (start "cmd.exe" on windows first) and then call it manually -- simply clicking it won't work. Check the output of "ipodpatcher --help" for details.

I'm in trouble...  :-[
For your convenience: here. I haven't checked the result it so no guarantees. It's build from current svn so there might be issues.

I thought I lost my iPod Mini (1st gen), but I found it again a few days ago, so I'm back to trying to get it to work.
I uploaded the bootloader I posted about two messages above (I know DOS syntax, so I'm sure I did it correctly), but it helped things not a whit. The interface is still god-awfully slow.
Suspecting the CF card (genuine A-Data) I put a known good microdrive in place, and now it's even worse - sometimes it won't even start playing. It's possible that it would if I left it there for a long time, but I lose patience after a few minutes.

In contrast, the original Apple firmware works fantastically, both with the Microdrive and with the 16GB CF card.

I'm at my wit's end. If I can't get RB to work on it the player is useless to me (all my music is in ogg format), so I'll slap in the microdrive and re-sell it.

What really bothers me is that everybody I read about has no trouble getting flashed ipods to work with rockbox... I seem to be the only one with a stubborn slow interface. Argh!

Any ideas? Thanks.

Have you tried checking the filesystem on the Ipod? Also, have you tried enabling dircache?

I cannot believe this. It works.
It works.

Madre de dios, it actually works.

Man, do I feel like a total n00b right now...
