3G 40GB, Linux Ubuntu install
« on: October 12, 2008, 06:29:43 PM »
Trying to have some fun with my old 3rd gen, but I can't get through step 1 on the install.

I can't move .roockbox onto my ipod.  I get the message:

cannot create directory `/media/ipod/.rockbox': Read-only file system

You Ipod is mounted readonly, or you system had problems and mounted the Ipod readonly. You need to fix this first.

Well, you might want to find out why the Ipod is mounted read only in the first place. Besides, how to mount a drive is a basic linux question and kinda out of the scope of these forums ...
